    I’m here to help you stay on your feet!

     

    Rachael graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2011 qualifying in a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine. Since graduating she has been working at a busy private practice.

     

    Over this time she has developed strong skills across the realms of general podiatry including nail and skin care, manual therapies and surgical treatment options.

     

    Rachael is a co-owner and practitioner of PodWest, a mobile podiatry practice in the coastal suburbs of Perth and joined the Newman Allied Health Clinic when it opened in March 2021.

     

    With a kind and energetic nature Rachael will help you with your foot problems to keep you active and comfortable.

    Podiatry deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and

    surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

    Located in the Parnawarri Shopping center at the Newman Allied Health Clinic, Newman Podiatry is a full-service podiatry clinic catering to all types of foot problems.

     

    Whether you have aching feet after a long day at work, a sprain or a strain from sport on the weekend or if you need help with dry cracking skin from the dry Pilbara climate we can help!

    Below are some of the frequently required treatments available at the clinic:

    Nail Care

    Difficult/thick nails, ingrowing nails, fungal infections

    Some nails need abit of extra help. We offer routine nail care for people who can’t manage their own nail care.
    Ingrowing nails can be treated conservatively or surgically under local anaesthetic.
    Fungal nails (Onychomycosis) can be diagnosed with a simple 5 minute test in the clinic and a treatment plan will be made based on your needs.

    Skin Care

    Dry cracked skin, corns/callus, warts, fungal infections

    The hot, dry climate in Newman is hard on your skin! Dry skin, corns and callus can be debrided and buffed, removal is generally quick and painless.  

     

    Warts are a viral infection of the skin. We offer a range of treatment options depending on your needs.

     

    Fungal infections are common on the feet. We have a range of treatment options available at the clinic.

    Diabetic/Vascular Foot Screening

    For people at risk due to Chronic Health conditions

    A Neurovascular assessment is a non-invasive assessment of the status of the blood-flow & feeling in your feet.

     

    Some medical conditions such as Diabetes and Peripheral Vascular Disease can put you at risk of ulceration and amputation. It is advised that if you are at risk you should have an assessment every 6-12 months.

    Foot pain/Injuries

    Plantar fasciitis, Achilles Tendonopathy, Ankle sprains, Neuroma pain, Muscular pain, Achey feet.

    Foot, ankle and leg pain can happen for a wide range of reasons.

    Based on your history & assessment we will advise a treatment plan that may include things such as change in footwear, orthotics, stretching/strengthening exercises and manual therapies such as dry needling or massage.

    Orthotics

    Prefabricated and Customised orthotics

    Orthotics are insoles that help to realign the feet and redistribute the forces of walking. They can be used to treat a wide range of foot problems such as plantar fasciitis, achey feet or legs and corns/callus.

     

    Prefabricated and customised orthotics are available from Newman Podiatry @ Newman Allied Health Clinic.

    Keryflex

    Cover-up treatment for unsightly Nails

    Keryflex Nail Restoration System is a cosmetic solution for damaged, broken or unsightly nails. The podiatrist will remove as much damaged nail as possible and replace the absent nail with a resin that is cured using ultraviolet light and shaped to mimic your natural nail shape.
